Nicole Ryder

Registered Psychologist

Hello, I’m Nicole.
I’m a Registered Psychologist based on the Central Coast and working across the Greater Sydney area. I’m passionate about supporting people to cultivate peace, purpose, and joy in their lives — whether in the therapy room or out in nature.

In my room-based psychology practice, I work with children, adolescents, and adults, drawing on evidence-based approaches like CBT, DBT, ACT, and EMDR. I enjoy weaving these modalities together in creative and flexible ways, always tailored to the person in front of me. While I value these tools, I believe that presence, safety, and genuine connection are the most powerful ingredients in healing.

Alongside traditional therapy, I offer Equine-Assisted Mental Health sessions — a grounded and experiential approach that brings together psychology, horses, and the natural world. These majestic animals have a unique way of helping people feel calm, seen, and supported. Whether in the paddock or the therapy room, my focus is always on helping you feel more like yourself.

Psychology

My therapeutic style is an integrative approach that incorporates person centred practice, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Mindfulness based interventions.

Psychology sessions take place in tranquil private rooms at Eatsense by ORS in Erina, every Thursday and Friday, from 9:30am - 5pm

My areas of interest include working with people struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma. I also enjoy working with people who are managing life transitions and seeking to find harmony with their truest self.

I am proud to work with all members of my community, from children to seniors, inclusive of all abilities, cultures, and those that identify as LGBTQIA+.

Equine Therapy

Equine-Assisted Psychology

Equine-Assisted Therapy is a powerful and experiential way to engage in psychological support, guided by a registered psychologist (that’s me!) in partnership with attuned, perceptive horses. Sessions are grounded in evidence-based approaches and take place in the calming presence of nature and animals.

I facilitate Equine-Assisted Psychology sessions:
– Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Outlook Ecotherapy in Terrigal
– Mondays in Galston at C Horses.

Horses are deeply relational beings. Sensitive to subtle shifts in body language and nervous system cues, they respond to us with honesty, presence, and without judgment. In this way, they offer gentle feedback that can help us notice how we’re showing up in the world — and open space for healing, connection, and growth.

This modality is well suited to clients who are drawn to nature, prefer experiential approaches, or are seeking an alternative or complement to traditional room-based therapy. No prior horse experience is needed, and sessions can be adapted for individuals with physical disabilities or access needs. Please feel free to get in touch if you’d like to explore whether this approach is right for you.
